Aurora

This is my final DT layout for Creative Scrappers. It's been a wonderful three months designing for them and I'm very grateful to Kristine for providing me with the opportunity to do so.

This photo was taken during our recent trip to Disney Hongkong at the end of November. Aurora from Sleeping Beauty being my younger DD's favourite Disney Princess, she was the only Disney character she wanted to take a photo with! And so I felt compelled to scrap this page for her - haha. The layout is inspired by a sketch by Day, and I decided to use lots of flowers and lace on this for a "princess-y" look. These were also stickled for that added sparkle.

Materials used:
Patterned Paper - EK Success Disney Princess line - Princess Crowns Glitter Paper
Cardstock - Bazzill Basics
Journaling Card - Creative Imaginations
Flowers - Prima

A Christmas Tradition

Here's one for the season! I used Basic Grey's Wassail collection for this layout. The photo is from Christmas 2001, and I had been wanting to scrap it for the longest time. It was taken during our annual Christmas party where my kids and all their cousins and close friends would always gather on the staircase of our house for a group photo. It's a great way to keep track of how much the kids have grown year on year! This was also my younger DD's very first Christmas - she was just under a year old then, and that's her at the bottom left of the photo.

I did lots of layering for the flowers and other embellishments. The "presents" were actually cut out from Basic Grey's Merry Happy paper, stickled for some glitter, and then popped up on 3D foam dots for dimension. I also stickled all the flowers for some added Christmas "sparkle", and added relevant word stickers and red crystal swirls to complete the layout.

The flower on the bottom right of the layout is actually attached to a hidden journaling tag which can be pulled out from behind the photo.

I'm really pleased with the way this layout turned out, especially after it took me so long to finally scrap it.

Materials used:
Patterned Papers - Basic Grey Wassail Collection - Brandy Butter, Greetings, Mantle, Cranberry Sauce, Merry Happy

Daughter, Best Friend

This is my DT layout for Creative Scrappers for today's reveal. The sketch used for inspiration is by Deanne Burton, and I used mainly Basic Grey's Ambrosia range of papers for this layout, to match our orange and grey clothing in the photo. If you'll notice, this is quite different from my usual layouts as it does not have any flowers or blings in the form of crystals, haha! I like how it turned out though.

I tore the edges of all the papers and inked them to give the layout some texture as well as a "vintagey" look. I then folded a strip of paper into pleats and placed it down the left side of the photo for even more texture (again, I tore the edges of this strip). The ribbon down the middle of this strip gives the layout a softer look. I also stickled parts of the paper and the chipboard alphas to give the layout a little sparkle, since I wasn't using any blings (must have that glitter!).

The quote reads: "Daughters are little girls that grow up to be your best friend." It's one of my favourite quotes.

Materials used:
Patterned Paper - Basic Grey Ambrosia Collection - Entice, Orange Smoothie, Tangy, Smoke
Title Alphas - Basic Grey Ambrosia Chip Sticker ABC
Ribbon - Adorn It - Carolee's Creations
Epoxy Sticker (Quote) - Cloud 9 Design Simple Thoughts Epoxy Stickers - Girl
Others - Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Black Soot, Ranger Ice Stickles in Crystal Ice, EK Success 3D Foam Dots

Simply Fabulous

I just realised I have not posted this layout, which I had actually done a couple of months back.

I used five different Scenic Route papers from the Sonoma range here (I love this collection). I cut out the flowers from the Melody Lane paper and layered them using pop-up dots to give them dimension. I then added gems to the flower centres and applied Stickles to the flowers for some glitter.

I also painted the Scenic Route scallop-shaped raw chipboard with crackle paint and placed their Baby Cakes Chipboard square with the words "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" on top of it. Another three of the Baby Cakes Chipboard squares are placed on the lace trim below this.

This layout won the September Scenic Route Contest at Scrap 4 Life.

Materials used:
Patterned Papers - Scenic Route Sonoma range - Pink Garland Kraft, Grove Street, Sierra Place, Melody Lane, and Scrap Strip 1
Chipboards - Scenic Route Plain Circles Chipboard Shapes, and Scenic Route Sonoma Baby Cakes Chipboard
Lace Trims - Melissa Frances Vintage Ribbon

Gems - Doodlebug Design Inc Jewels, and Elements by Mark Richards Crystal Stickers
Others - Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint in Shabby Shutters, Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Peeled Paint, Ranger Ice Stickles in Crystal Ice, and EK Success 3D Foam Dots

Soul and Inspiration

This was my DT layout for Butterfly Crafts' very first challenge, which was revealed on 1 December. For the challenge, we had to create a layout about a person or the people who inspire us, so my natural choice would be my two DD - my "Soul and Inspiration"!

Go check out the challenge on Butterfly Crafts' blog. You have until end of December to submit your layout, and the winner will be next month's Guest Designer on Butterfly Crafts!

Snowman

Just got back from a short family vacation the previous weekend, so I'm only just catching up with my updates!

This was my layout for Creative Scrappers' reveal on November 30. I decided to do a winter layout ('tis the season), and thought the papers from MME's Be Merry Collection were so appropriate for this photo of my daughter building a snowman, taken at Club Med Sahoro in December 2006. The layout was inspired by a sketch by Jodie Kautzner.

Materials used:
Patterned Papers - MME's Be Merry by Zoe Pearn Collection - Jack Frost, Frosty Flakes, Sweet Sprinkles, Candy Stripes
Flowers - Prima, Heidi Swapp
Brads - Making Memories Snowflake Brads
Title Alphas - American Crafts Thickers - Platforms Chipboard Letter Stickers in Red

Passions

I did this layout featuring some of the people and things I'm passionate about - my two DD who are my greatest inspirations for my layouts, photography, art and scrapbooking. Happy {2}

A proud moment for mummy! My younger daughter was among the top three in her Primary One class this year, and received a Merit Award for Academic Achievement from her school. This photo was taken at the Prize-Giving Ceremony held on 7 November, and is of her and her two other classmates - the top three of the class. Incidentally, my older DD performed with the school choir at the ceremony!

I used papers from K&Co's Amy Butler Lotus collection, and the butterfly and flower on the right is attached to a little journaling tag hidden behind the mounted photo.

Updates

I've had my layouts selected as featured layouts in several sites over the past few months, so I've decided to do a quick update here.

Sisterly Love was featured on One Little Word's blog in September. I had entered it for their "Love" challenge.

My gallery on Creative Scrappers was chosen as one of their featured galleries in September's Today's Creative Gallery.

Happy, using Sassafras Lass papers, was chosen as a Fab Find on Coordinates Collections in October.

My Little Lady was chosen as Pick of the Day on Scrap Friendzy in October.

The Music Of My Life was also chosen as Pick of the Day on Scrap Friendzy in October, as well as October's Week 4 Winner from all the Picks for that month.

Alice In Disneyland

This photo was taken at Tokyo Disney, of my two DD attempting to pose with "Alice in Wonderland".

I used die-cut patterned paper from Creative Imaginations and stickled the white floral prints to give the layout some texture. The quote "Curiouser and curiouser" is one of my favourite lines from the book Alice In Wonderland.

Patterned Paper - Creative Imaginations Narratives by Karen Russell Die-Cut Paper, K&Co Amy Butler Lotus Collection
Cardstock - Bazzill Basics in Blackbird
