The Music Of My Life

Another recently completed layout I did, using lots of papers and embellishments from Creative Imaginations - I just love their products! This layout is for my two DD who are "The Music of my Life"! This is my last blast before going back to full-time work tomorrow after six years of being a stay-at-home mum.

The butterflies are CI stickers which I stickled and altered with pearls and Prima blings. I pasted the stickers on clear transparency and cut them out so I could fold up the wings.

The scroll on the right was altered using CI paper, Prima flowers, and crystal brads from CI and Making Memories. It is attached to a card with some hidden journaling, which can be pulled out from behind the photo.

The journaling contains a message for my girls.

Materials used:
Patterned Papers - CI's Felicity Flourish and Felicity Scroll by Christine Adolph, and CI's Music, Red Music, and Cream Music by Marah Johnson
Chipboard Scroll - Maya Road
Flowers - Prima
Bling Brads - CI, Making Memories
Blings - Prima, Hero Arts
Alphas - K&Co Glitter Stickers, Basic Grey {un}dressed Chipboard Alphas - Wilma (painted and stickled). The word "Music" is actually from a CI patterned paper by Marah Johnson (Music) which I stamped and silver embossed.
Others - CI Stickers and CI Epoxy Stickers by Christine Adolph, Bazzill Cardstock, Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Making Memories Acrylic Paint, Ranger Stickles, Pearls, Transparency

Sugar & Spice

I did this scraplift of a beautiful layout by the talented Kim White, who is Guest Designer at Lotus Paperie for the month of June. I used patterned papers from Sassafras Lass' Serendipity range as I thought it matched the colours in the photo so well.

Materials used:
Patterned Papers - Sassafras Lass Serendipity "Sunshine Lollipop", Sassafras Lass Serendipity "Fruit Slice Land", Sassafras Lass Serendipity "Sprinkled", Sassafras Lass Serendipity "Gum Drop Garden"
Flowers - Heidi Swapp
Stamp - Autumn Leaves Talking In Circles (Girl)
Others - Bazzill Textured Cardstock, Daisyd's Rub-On Transfers, Autumn Leaves Heather Bailey French Clip, Making Memories Acrylic Paint, Tim Holtz Distress Ink

Cherish Life

I just completed this layout last night. It was inspired by a lovely sketch by Yukari Takanashi for Pencil Lines. The photo is one of my favourites of my two girls, and the title is actually a message for them, to "Cherish Life". I used mainly patterned paper from Making Memories' {note}worthy range, which I think are gorgeous!

Materials used:
Patterned Papers - MM Delaney DieCut Stamp, MM {note}worthy Delaney Stripe, MM {note}worthy Addie Pattern Stripe, MM {note}worthy Ava Loopy Stripe
Ribbon - MM
Brads - MM {note}worthy range
Flowers - Heidi Swapp, Prima, and an unknown brand
Others - Bazill Textured Cardstock, Kaiser bling (for the word "cherish"), Sandylion sticker (word "life"), Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Pearls (unknown brand)

Toucheng Farm

This layout features photos from my older daughter's recent trip to Taiwan as part of her school's Chinese Immersion Programme. These photos were taken on the second last day of their trip, where they learned the intricacies of the rice trade, from planting to harvesting, from the friendly villagers at Toucheng Farm, one of the five places they stayed at during the trip. In these pictures, Megan discovers how rice is separated from their husks, and also how heavy the baskets of rice are!

Materials used:

Patterned Papers - Making Memories, MME, K&Co.
Alphas - American Crafts, Prima
Fibers - EK Success, Yarn Bee Ribbons
Others - Bazill Textured Cardstock, MME Journaling Tag, Prima Brad, Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Ranger Stickles

Updates - Fave Sightings and LOTD!

This is just an update of recent challenges I participated in where my layouts were selected as among the favourites.

The first one, "Today", is for One Little Word's Word Up #26: TODAY challenge held in May.

The next, "Laugh", is for Scrapmojo's Challenge 16, where we had to use Martha Stewart's signature phrase, "It's A Good Thing", anywhere in our layout.

This same layout was also chosen as the Layout of the Day on Creative Scrappers on 15 June.

And finally, these two, "Perth" and "The Girls", were among the layouts featured for Lotus Paperie's challenges for the month of April.

Laugh

I did this layout for a challenge on Scrapmojo (Challenge No. 16). I used papers from Creative Imaginations and CherryArte, and flowers and blings from Prima. The bling title "Laugh" is from Kaiser, and the rest of the alphas are from Prima. Stamps used are also from Prima, and the circles are stickers from CI. The layout was inspired by a sketch by Monika Martinson for Creative Scrappers.

One Peaceful Moment

I did this layout for a challenge on One Little Word - Word Up #28: ONE. This photo of my daughter was taken when we were in Club Med Bintan last December, and somehow the title "One Peaceful Moment" just comes to mind when I look at it. I used patterned paper from the new Making Memories "Passport" range, and embellished with flowers also from Making Memories, Prima and Petaloo, and blings from Prima, Making Memories and Creative Imaginations. I used the Stamps Alphas from Prima for the word "Moment" as well as a "Journey" stamp from Maya Road on the left, in line with the "postcard" look of the paper. The journalling is an extract from Ecclesiastes.

My Little Lady

Yet another layout using paints and doodling. I painted the centre of the background white, then drew and painted the roses and leaves, and doodled the brown swirls. I used patterned papers from K&Company and My Mind's Eye, and alphas from DCWV's All Dressed Up range, K&Company, and Making Memories. The blings are from Prima, and the heart embellishment on the right is made using SEI patterned paper and Creative Imaginations Sticker, as well as K&Company's Words and Tags by Brenda Walton tag, ribbons and pearls.

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - Hi-5

Got hooked on doodling and painting after my "One Kool Kid" layout, so I decided to do another one, this time on the Hi-5 Circus Stageshow which I brought my kids to in September last year. Hi-5 is one of their favourite TV shows, so going to the concerts is kind of like a yearly "pilgrimage" for us! I used American Crafts' "Celebration" range of papers to match the fun circus atmosphere of the photos, and used flowers from Heidi Swapp and Prima, chipboard scrolls from Maya Road which I painted and applied Stickles to, and ribbons for embellishments. I drew and painted the two puppet characters Chatterbox and Jup Jup, as well as the Hi-5 logo which I used as the flower centre. The bling arrows are from Glitz Designs. This is quite a departure from my usual style as I don't normally use these colours in my layouts, but I wanted something bright, cheerful and fun for this, and I'm actually quite happy with it.

One Kool Kid

I did this layout for a challenge requiring us to use paint and doodling in our layouts. I've always loved painting and art so this was really fun for me, even though it had been ages since I had done any portraits! Of course, the acrylic paints were from Making Memories, and I used a black Slickwriter for the outlines. I applied Stickles to the minimal patterned paper I used, and added wood flourishes from KaiserCraft to give the layout a bit of dimension. Title alphas are from DCWV, Scrapworks, and Making Memories.

MME Contest Winner!

Another wonderful surprise! I had won Coordinates Collections' May MME Contest. We had to submit layouts using at least 75 percent of My Mind's Eye products and I had actually submitted two layouts - "Mother" and "Thru The Years". I have always loved MME, so these were really fun to do!

June's Prima Princess!

June - another exciting month! To begin with, my broadband has been down a week now and I've only just managed to get it back up! But what a pleasant surprise when I logged into the Cafe Prima blog and found that I had been chosen to be their Prima Princess for the month of June, for my layout "Today ...". Totally unexpected, so I'm so, so very happy indeed! What a nice way to begin the month.

Sisters, Best Friends

This layout was done for a 28-Hour Sketch Contest at Creative Scrappers. I completed it in a single night - a record for me, haha! The patterned paper is from Autumn Leaves' Foof-A-La's "Red, Black & Cream" range, while the bracket on the left is a sticker from Creative Imaginations' "Narratives" range by Karen Russell. Flowers are from Prima, Heidi Swapp, Petaloo and Hero Arts, and title alphas and bling brads for the flower centres are from Making Memories. I also used gaffer tape from 7Gypsies, and I chose to print the photo in black and white to keep in line with the red, black and cream look of the layout.

Thru The Years

This layout tracks my younger daughter's growth "Thru The Years" - from baby to little lady at seven years old. :) It was inspired by a lovely sketch by Tina McDonald for Pencil Lines. For the layout, I used My Mind's Eye's Wild Asparagus papers from their "Birthday Girl" and "Sweet Little One" ranges, as well as their 29th Street Market's "Baby" range. I just love the aqua and pink colours of the papers. Flowers are from Prima, Heidi Swapp and Bazzill Basics, blings from Prima (swirls) and Creative Imaginations (flower centre), and chipboard scrolls and scalloped journalling circle from Maya Road. I painted and applied Ranger's Crackle Accents to the scrolls. The title alphas are from American Crafts and Colorbok.
