Megan / Melanie

This is a two-page layout that's been on my mind for some time, that I've finally managed to put together now. The idea actually came about while I was printing photos for the Creative Escape class with Donna Downey, but procrastinator me put it on the back-burner until now!

I used some pretty, pretty papers from Webster's Pages, and, to give lots of dimension, popped up the "frames" as well as the floral cut-outs, journaling, and the photos. I then embellished the layouts with flowers and lace.

Here are the individual layouts and some close-ups.

Forest Adventure

Here's my layout for 52 Sketches 52 Weeks' Sketch #30 this week. I used Little Yellow Bicycle's Traveler collection for this layout, and did quite a bit of distressing. Although this collection is travel themed, I thought the greens and browns suited the "Forest Adventure" theme of the layout just as well.

And I used 3D foam dots for the matted photos, for added dimension.

I totally love the sketch this week as it lends itself to lots of layering!

And check out this gorgeous prize from Apron Strings!

So do hop over to the blog and take part in the challenge.

Be

Here's another layout using Basic Grey's Lemonade papers. I did some tearing and distressing for this layout, for texture, and propped the matted photo on 3D dots for dimension.

I embellished the layout with flowers of matching colours and some lace.

And I like how the two little flowers seem to "peek" out from behind two of the tears.

Fun

Using papers from one of my favourite brands - Basic Grey. Their new Lemonade collection is just gorgeous, and I matched them with flowers and trim from Prima. The lace paper is also from Basic Grey - isn't it lovely?

I also used lots of 3D foam dots on this layout, for dimension. In fact, the matted photo itself is mounted onto another larger mat using 3D dots, and the whole piece is then mounted to the backing lace paper using more 3D dots.

And I added stickles to the cut-outs for some glitter and texture.

Materials used:
Patterned Paper and Cardstock - Basic Grey's Lemonade Collection - Pink Fizz, Saltwater Taffy, Sun Dress, Flower Garden
Lace Die-Cut Paper - Basic Grey Laser-Cut Paper Doilies - Lemonade Doilies in Cream
Flowers and Leaves - Prima Juliette Collection - Berry, and Trellis Roses - Coral Rose
Lace Trim - Prima

You & I Both

I just love the song "You and I Both" by Jason Mraz, and decided to title this layout just so. The photo of course is of me and DH taken during our anniversary month in June. I love these papers from Webster's Pages' Inspired collection and added lace, pearls and roses for a romantic feel.

I cut parts of the flourishes, leaves and butterfly of the background paper to tuck the photo and matting paper under.

I then cut out the swirls from the Inspired Calendar and Shady Lane papers and layered the laces and pearls on top of it for texture and dimension.

I also laid the pearl flourishes to match the directions of the flourishes and flowers on the background Peacefulness paper.

Finally, I cut out butterflies from the Inspired Calendar paper and glued down only the centre of the butterflies, leaving the wings free to fold slightly upwards for even more dimension.

Materials used:
Patterned Papers - Webster's Pages' Inspired Collection - Peacefulness, Bee Balm, Inspired Calendar, Shady Lane
Flowers - Prima's Flower Embellishments - Trellis Roses - Fontaine
Lace Trims - Prima
Pearls - Prima's Say It In Pearls, Unknown
Title Alphas - Prima's Whispered Words Alphas in White, American Crafts Thickers - Puffy Rainboots in Powder
Ink - Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap

The photo for this layout was taken at my DD's school, after her very first violin ensemble performance in November last year.
