Friends - In Good Company

This is my layout for 52 Sketches 52 Weeks' Sketch #35 this week. It's of my younger DD and her BFFs with their SCGS bears, taken on National Day this year. I used papers from DCWV's The Rustic Stack. I just love these papers - they're gorgeous and some of the papers are actually glittered too! Just beautiful!

And this week's sketch is another lovely one from Julie Bonner.

In place of the little circles, I've decided to use flowers to embellish my layout. And I applied crackle paint onto the Maya Road flower chipboard frame surrounding the "Friends" in the title, and then lightly inked the edges of its petals for a tinge of colour.

This week's fabulous prize over at 52 Sketches 52 Weeks is sponsored by Michelle from Stampin' Up, and it's full of patterned papers, cardstock, chipboard letters and numbers, flowers, brads, stickles, buttons, and ribbon! Check it out, and have a go at the challenge!

Materials used in my layout:
Patterned Papers - DCWV's The Rustic Stack
Flowers - Prima
Flower Chipboard Frame - Maya Road
Title Stickers - Basic Grey Sultry Collection Chip Stickers, Momenta ATD Splendor Embossed Puffy Message Stickers
Others - Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint in Scattered Straw, Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tea Dye and Aged Mahogany, EK Success 3D Foam Dot

Eight

A layout on ... you guessed it - my younger DD's 8th birthday celebrations. This also happens to be my DT layout for this week's 52 Sketches 52 Weeks' Sketch #34. It's a lovely sketch by Julie Bonner, that is open to so many interpretations, as you can see from the DT inspirations on the 52 blog. So do go check it out.

For my layout, I used MME's Ooh La La Paper Kit, with minimal embellishments. These papers are so wonderfully versatile that I'm actually using mainly the backs of the two-sided patterned papers! Aren't they gorgeous?

I inverted the positions of the title and journaling.

And decided to use pleated lace in place of the scallops on the left. I then gave added texture and sparkle to the lace by glueing different sized gems onto it.

This week's prize is a US$40 gift certificate from Noel Mignon, who runs a fabulous online store and monthly kit club! So hop on over and join in the fun!

Materials used on my layout:
Patterned Papers - My Mind's Eye Ooh La La Collection - For Her - Beautiful Morning, All Dressed Up, Between The Lines

Winter Joy

An early winter layout I did last week, using mainly papers and embellishments from SEI's Winter Song Collection. I just love this collection and couldn't wait to use it when I got it. And I immediately knew what I wanted to do with it too.

I distressed the edges of the cardstock paper and tore out a little "window" for the photo, layering it with another torn out "window" behind.

I then decorated the layout with poinsettias from Prima, ribbons and lace fibers, pearls, a metal accent, and a cut-out of the gorgeous flocked bird from SEI's Frost paper, which I attached to the layout using 3D foam dots for dimension.

And to add some sparkle, I applied stickles to the printed part of the bird cut-out as well as the flowers and leaves.

Materials used:
Patterned Paper - SEI Winter Song Collection - Winter Song
Cardstocks - SEI Winter Song Collection - Frost; Basic Grey's Bittersweet Collection - Lipstick Red; Basic Grey Designer Cardstock - Crisp
Flowers and Leaves - Prima Festive Christmas
Brads - SEI Winter Song Designer Brads, Karen Foster Design Sparkle Burst Brads - Holly and Berries

Alphas - Basic Grey Wassail Collection Alpha Stickers
Journal Tag - SEI Metal Accents - Moravia; SEI Epoxy Stickers - Winter Song

And I sprayed glimmer mist on the flowers, leaves, and butterflies for added shimmer.

Life In Detail

My layout for 52 Sketches 52 Weeks' Sketch #31 this week. I used Collage Press' scalloped die-cut paper and threaded a ribbon through the holes round its edges.

Check out this week's wonderful sketch by Julie Bonner - it's simple yet so pretty.

And here's the fabulous prize from Scrapbook Kit Club.
