I took this photo of my daughter on the very day she turned 13, to keep for posterity's sake. It was a big day for her, since as one of her friends said, it's the day she turns from being a "tween" to a "teen". So naturally I just had to scrap it.

I started with a lovely paper from Tim Holtz's Shabby Chic collection, and then just piled on the embellishments, experimenting with various mediums along the way.

I took a piece of chip tile from Tattered Angels, sprayed on a combination of Coffee Shop and Iridescent Gold glimmer mists on it, inked it with a combination of distress inks, and then used a sanding block to distress the embossed portions. I used this as a base on which I placed my matted photo and other embellishments.

I applied Tim Holtz's Distressed Crackle Paint in Clear Rock Candy on a couple of postage stamp "frames" from Tattered Angels, and very lightly inked their edges after the paint has dried.

I also applied the crackle paint to a little chipboard photo corner from Tattered Angels.

As the layout has a very pink base, I used lots of greens and browns as a contrast. I also did a lot of inking and distressing, and used pop-up dots for dimension. I finished it off with laces and a beautiful ornate frame from Tim Holtz.

Happy birthday, sweetie!

A layout without a title. So I decided to use a word from the journaling as the title instead. I so love this quote which I got from Bo Bunny's Mama-Razzi collection: "When you photograph in black and white, you capture the color of the soul."

I did quite a bit of distressing and inking for this layout, to give it a vintagey look.

And I applied Distress Crackle Paint in Clear Rock Candy to the piece of chipboard from Tattered Angels, to give it some added texture.

I then embellished the chipboard with flowers, leaves, and pearls from Prima.

Here's another look:

Time Together

Here's my new layout for Custom Crops. The photo is of my younger daughter’s birthday celebrations from last year - a crop party held at one of our LSS. The girls got to make a mini-album to take home, with photos and all, which were taken at the party and printed out on the spot for the girls to use in their album – such fun! I thought the 123Celebrate Me Collection "VIP" patterned paper from Creative Imaginations' ‘Melange’ range is so appropriate, and don’t you just love that Hambly ‘Sweet Cupcakes’ overlay? Check out the step-by-step how-to guide and full list of products used HERE.

I did a little experimenting with this layout, using one of my new Prima stamps, with some embossing powder and glimmer mists.

I used Core'dinations cardstock for the layout, so that when I tore the cardstock, the torn edges will show two shades of the same colour - no inking required! Apart from the edges of the cardstock, I also tore the bottom right corner just enough to curl the torn portion backwards to insert the photo, and let some patterned paper show through from the back.

I then used an old Scenic Route patterned paper I had left over from their Sonoma Collection to just "peek" through from underneath the torn portion of the cardstock at the bottom right of the layout, and embellished the corner with some Prima vines, flowers and laces.

Now for the experimenting. What I did was stamped the cardstock with Versa Mark Watermark Stamp Pad, poured some clear embossing powder onto the stamped portion, and embossed it. I then used Tattered Angels' Coffee Shop and Iridescent Gold glimmer mists and sprayed it over the embossed portion. The embossing will resist the mist and all I needed to do was dab off the resisted bits of sprayed mists with some tissue.

I really like how this turned out. And it gives a nice textured effect to the layout.

Here's a layout I did using the new The Girls' Paperie patterned papers, and my new Tattered Angels Glimmer Screens. I just love the butterfly screen from Tattered Angels - so pretty!

I did lots of flower cut-outs from the Cabbage Rose paper because the paper just screamed to be cut out when I saw it - lol!

And to finish off, I distressed and lightly inked the Newsprint Stripe papers for some texture and shades, and I also used lots of 3D pop-up dots for dimension, and added laces and flowers as further embellishments.

Notice how the colours of the flowers and glimmer mist matched the colours on my DD's outfit? :)

Patterned Papers - The Girls' Paperie - Paper Girl Collection - Newsprint Stripe, Cabbage Rose
