Our Adventure

Here's a layout I did for Custom Crops, with lots of distressing and using lots of Prima flowers and vines. I decided to do a very nature-themed layout given the photo which was taken at Pulau Ubin's Coastal Hill Forest overlooking the Chek Jawa wetlands, off Singapore island. The papers from K & Company's Susan Winget pack are a perfect fit for this layout - don't you just love the colours, and their beautiful floral and butterflies prints?

For a complete how-to and list of materials used, have a look HERE at the Custom Crops site.

Zva Creative July DT Blog Hop!

The Zva Designers are joining together today to share a project that we have created using some of our favorite Zva Creative products. I am hoping that you will take some time to join us for a little bit of fun again this month!

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog: Paper Hugs. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. There are 19 design team members, so be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on 5 of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package ...YAY! Those blogs will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

This Blog Hop runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, July 20th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, July, 21st on each of the winning blogs and the full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog (linked above). We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday...plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post...you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

Here's a layout I did using Bo Bunny's Gypsy Collection papers and Zva Creative's crystals. The photo of my DD was taken during her school's carnival, hence the title of the layout.

I cut the Gypsy Saffron paper along the vertical separation line and pasted the two portions onto a piece of cardstock, raising the left portion with pop-up dots. I then inserted a strip of the Gypsy Spice paper which I had trimmed using Martha Stewart's Pansy Edge Punch, and added some hand cut flourishes from the Gypsy Curry paper, into the slit between the two portions of the Gypsy Saffron paper. This is then further embellished with lace and some beautiful crystal flourishes from Zva Creative. Aren't those crystals gorgeous?

I created the little flower on the bottom left of the layout by cutting out some circular pieces from the Gypsy Cut Outs paper, and layering them one on top of the other with pop-up dots, curling up the edges of the "petals". This is then topped off with a Zva Creative crystal brad.

The layout is then finished off with a little tag from Tim Holtz's Idea-ology line, tied to some twine and topped with a white mini rose from Zva Creative which I had inked slightly and applied distress stickles to.

Malacca 2010 Album

I had a crazy week last week, working on a number of projects at the same time! This album, I made for my older DD. She has recently taken a keen interest in photography and I had promised her I would put together some of the photos she took during her school's Malacca trip earlier this year, into an album. And this 8 x 8 canvas-covered chipboard album from Pink Paislee was the perfect size and choice for her 4R photos.

As you can see, I covered the chipboard pages with matching patterned papers from Pink Paislee as well. And as there were more photos that I wanted to include than there were pages in the album, I decided to add three additional page sheets using Hambly transparencies, instead of more chipboards.

I was, frankly, quite impressed with some of her shots, so if you have noticed, I decided to do up the album without my usual "tons" of flowers and blings, in order not to detract from the photos. Believe me, this is considered "a few" flowers for me - lol!

Here's a look at the individual pages of the album.

Simply Delightful

This is my latest DT layout for Zva Creative. I used papers from Fancy Pants Designs' Wishful Thinking Collection, cutting out the flowers and leaves from the Rose Petals paper, and the scalloped strip from the Strips paper. I adhered these to the layout using 3D pop-up dots for depth and dimension.

I then outlined the hand-cut flowers and leaves with stickles for greater definition, sparkle and texture, and also used stickles to create the dots on the scalloped strip.

And for embellishments, I used these gorgeous crystal butterflies and corner frame from Zva Creative.

I also added some pretty pink and green flowers from Zva Creative to the hand-cut flowers and leaves, as well as to the pretty flower-shaped crystals that came with the crystal butterflies, which I placed at the bottom right corner of the matted photo.

Materials used:
Patterned Papers - Fancy Pants Designs - Wishful Thinking Collection - Rose Petals, Corsage, Adorable, Strips, Pretty Plaid
